St Oswald’s Church

This ancient church built in the early 12th Century stands in the shadow of Penyghent, one of the Three Peaks. The building has many interesting features unique in the Dales, particularly the Norman doorway and tub font with herringbone decoration. The church is open each day. 

National Plant Monitoring Scheme

The scheme is the first of its kind and asks for volunteers across the United Kingdom to visit a kilometre square local to them and record the plants they find there in several different plots.

Oil Buying Group

For residents in the Horton Parish (Horton-in-Ribblesdale, Selside and Helwith Bridge) a domestic Oil Buying Group is active and managed by Fiona Durham. Oil is ordered from a selection of local providers on a bi-monthly basis, selected on price. Horton School Closure Consultation

Horton in Ribblesdale Primary School is under consultation for closure. North Yorkshire County Council seeks feedback on this important commumity resource. Public meeting 6th Oct 18:30 at the school.

Parish Wild Flowers Scheme

Pollinating insects (such as bees and butterflies) are in a dangerous decline, we should assist in preserving their habitats, such as verges and open spaces.
