Register Financial & Other Interests

The main purpose of the Register of Members' Financial Interests is to provide information of any financial interest or other material benefit which a Member receives which might reasonably be thought by others to influence his or her actions taken in his or her capacity as an Parish Council Member.

Examples of registrable interests include paid employment, sponsorships, foreign travel, gifts, hospitality, land and property, and shareholdings.  In some cases a financial or value threshold applies.  The Code of Conduct and Guide to the Rules relating to the Conduct of Members specifies what Councillors are required to register.  It can be found in the Publications section of the Commissioner's website.

The Register is published soon after the beginning of a new Parliament, under the authority of the Committee on Standards and Privileges, and annually thereafter.  Between publications the Register is regularly updated electronically and, together with earlier editions, it is available for public inspection in the Search Room of the Parliamentary Archives.
